The Spinal Liaison Service is a nurse led, patient focused service offered to all patients referred to the Spinal Cord System of Care Programme.

The liaison service provides information, education and advice to patients with spinal cord injury (SCI), their families and also to healthcare professionals (HCP) in the acute and community setting.

The liaison service, through the active delivery of specialised knowledge, helps patients prevent secondary complications such as pressure sores and bladder and bowel issues from occurring.

The liaison service provides training to healthcare professionals in the commuity and other healthcare facilities in delivering neurogenic bowel care education to SCI patients.

The service is active across the continuum of care from preadmission assessments, inpatient stay, post discharge follow up and lifelong care through a comprehensive annual telehealth clinic.
