NRH Transition Year (TY) Programme – and Careers Event for Students

December 12, 2022

Transition Year and 2nd Level Students Work Experience Programme at the NRH.

The NRH offers a whole hospital experience to Transition Year Students on a group (rather than individual) basis.  The NRH cannot accommodate individual dates for work experience due to the large number of requests we receive annually.

Registering interest for the TY Programme does not guarantee a place as they are offered and allocated on a lottery basis.

The group programme offers students an opportunity to meet with Staff in clinical and non-clinical Departments and learn about multiple disciplines in the hospital. Due to Covid 19, access to patients is limited to ensure their safety is a priority. Through a variety of informational and interactive activities Students gain insight into various aspects of hospital life.

NRH TY Programme dates for the 2022-23 academic year are as follows:

14-18th November 2022

20-24th February 2023

27th-31st March 2023

The Transition Year Programme for the Academic Year 2022-23 is fully booked.

If you wish to register interest for the 2023-24 Transition Year programme, please contact:

Registration of interest will close on 10th September 2023 in order to process applications and offer places.

TY Programme Deferred.  Virtual Careers Event for Students takes place on Tuesday 26th April.

The NRH has taken the difficult decision to defer its Transition Year (TY) work experience programme for 2022 due to ongoing COVID-19 measures that remain in place.

We are very disappointed to have to take this decision for a second year running however, the safety of our patients, staff and students is paramount.

We understand this is very disappointing for students – we are, however, running a Virtual  Careers Event for students on Tuesday 26th April, at 5.30pm.  The event is open to all 2nd and 3rd level students.

This event which will provide an opportunity to hear about a patient’s experience in the Hospital and members of our Interdisciplinary Teams will give an overview and insight into the following disciplines:
