If a Clinical Psychologist is involved in a patient’s care, this may involve:
- Working with the patient to assess how their injury or condition may have affected attention, memory, thinking skills, insight, mood and behaviour.
- Assessing the patient’s mood and ways of coping, and providing psychotherapy to support emotional well-being during the person’s admission period.
- Undertaking assessements and interventions to assist patients to benefit from their Rehabilitaton Programme; and to learn how changes in behaviour and personality may affect the person’s adjustment following their injury or illness.
- Liaising with patients and their families or carers regarding the psychological support they may need following completion of the Inpatient programme, which may require attending the Outpatient service at NRH.
