Brain Injury (Including Stroke) Programme Outcomes, Demographics and Activity 2017

Outcomes, Demographics and Activity for Inpatient services – 2017

  • 210 received Inpatient Services in 2017 from the Brain Injury Programme.
  • Of these, 200 Patients received Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Programme (CIIRP) and 10 patients were admitted for a short review of assessment.
  • Of the 210 CIIRP Patients admitted:
    • 93 had a diagnosis of Stroke (44%)
    • 48 patients had a diagnosis of Non Traumatic Brain Injury (23%)
    • 59 patients had a diagnosis of Traumatic Brain Injury (28%)
    • 10 patients had another Neurological Condition (5%)

The NRH has committed to a programme of continual review of its service delivery. Following on from reviews, it implements various improvement plans.

The average waiting time for admission to the Brain Injury Programme during 2017 was:

  • 44% of patients were admitted within 90 days

Average Length of Stay

The Average length of stay for patients in the Brain Injury Programme in 2017 was 80 days.

Discharge to Home*

78% of patients were discharged to home in 2017.
