Industrial Action – Wednesday 26th June, 2019

The day of industrial action planned by SIPTU for tomorrow, Wednesday 26th June, 2019 is going ahead.  This is part of a campaign of industrial action in 38 locations around the country, which includes the NRH.  SIPTU members including Chefs and Support Staff will be affected by this industrial action.

The NRH is prepared for the 24 hour work stoppage due to take place from 8.00am on Wednesday 26th to 8.00am on Thursday 27th.  Members of SIPTU will be picketing outside the hospital from 8.00am to 8.00pm on Wednesday.

We are doing all we can to keep any potential disruption to a mimimum for our patients and their families.  Our priority is to ensure we can deliver a safe and appropriate level of care to our patients during this period.  Our Consultants, Doctors, other Healthcare Professionals and Support Staff who are not in dispute will be on duty as normal.

While it is expected that there will be some impact on our normal daily practices during the period of industrial action, we will do everything possible to ensure that any impact is kept to a minimum for our patients.

If, as a patient, you have any concerns whether the planned industrial action is likely to  affect any aspect of your stay in the Hospital, please ask a member of your treating team for more information.

Please note that the Cedars Coffee Shop will remain closed on Wednesday, however the Patients’ and Staff Canteens will be open as normal.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and to thank you for your patience and co-operation at this time.

Hospital management will make every effort to keep our patients and their family members and carers updated with any further developments as they arise.
